Ion Chromatography Systems

Ion Chromatography Systems

IONUS can be used for the analysis of anions and cations in research, development and everyday routine: drinking water and tap water as well as for waters within the scope of environmentally relevant investigations. This chromatograph separates anions (for anions optionally with suppressor technology) according to EPA 300.0 and EPA 300.1 and cations.

Technical Specifications:

  • method:

ion exchange chromatpgraphy with in built conductivity detector,

        optional with UV detection

        or

post column derivatization for bromate or transition metals

        analysis with UV/VIS Detector

  • conductivity detection:

          noise: 0.02 µS, 1 s | linearity: < 1 s | range: 0 – 10 mS/cm

  • reproducibility:

          0.1 % RSD at 100 µL/min

IONUS features

Anion analysis

Applications for F–,Cl–, ClO2-, ClO3-, Br–, BrO3–, NO2–, NO3–, PO43-, SO42-, I– silicate in water with and without chemical suppressor technique (according to EPA 300.0 & EPA 300.1) are available.

Cation analysis

Different methods have been developed for analysis of cations like NH4+, Li+, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Sr2+, Ba2+.

Derivatization

Modified for post-column derivatisation, very low detection levels for bromate (according EPA 317.0 or EPA 326) or transition metals (VIS detection) are realised.

Detection

Anions and cations can be measured subsequently with conductivity detector. If requested the IONUS can be equipped with UV/VIS detector for indirect detection.

Consumables & spare parts

The IONUS is compatible with the common eluents and columns (max. operating pressure 120 bar) for anion and cation exchange chromatography. The customer is not limited to one brand.

Profile:

columns: the IONUS works with the common columns (stainless steel/PEEK) with max. operating pressure of 120 bar.

eluents: because IONUS works with the common eluents based on carbonate/bicarbonate buffers, nitric acid, sulufirc acid, the customer is not bound to a specific product.

OPTIONS

Manual injection port

easy manual injection with Rheodyne valve with a standard volume of 20 µL (other loops up on request)

Anion suppressor technique

based on chemical process regeneration of suppressors with acid.

Separation of transition metals

by using carboxylic acids (oxalic, tartaric, citric acid) as eluents and the complexing agent (PAR) 4-(2-Pyridylazo)resorcin the concentration levels of transition metals can be determined.

Indirect UV detection

the IONUS can be equipped with an additional UV/VIS detector.

Post column derivatization to determine bromate

the bromate analyzer is a dedicated configuration for the analysis of bromate in water based samples with a detection limit of 1 ppb. Depending on what is requested, the derivatization can be performed with Dianisidine (EPA 317) or Triiodide (EPA 326) together with a UV/VIS detector.
